This Kylix (Drinking Cup) is from the height of the greatest ceramists of Greece during during the sixth century B.C.--It is an example of black figure pottery made by painting black slip onto red colored clay to made the designs. This Kylix is 10 1/2 inches in diameter, 13 inches including handles, 5 inches tall, with the bowl being 2 inches deep. The restorations of this piece are an old restoration, very well done. The depiction of a warrior became typical of Greek pottery during this time period.....(GR-293).....$2875

This modified Oinochoe (Wine Jug) is a vase from the Protogeometrical Period (c. 1050-900 B.C.) shows one of few artistic expressions of this time period in ancient Greece. The period is confined to the rendering of circles, and lines, but placed with obvious considerable and notable dexterity, this piece is black slip painted on red clay. It is 9 inches tall and 6 1/2 inches in diameter. The body is totally intact, the neck shows signs of old, but excellent repair....(GR-275).....$1460

 

 

This Grecian coin is one of the first coins ever produced by any culture. It is from The Grecian Empire, Asia Minor; this is a Gold 1/48 th Stater--coins of this denomination were carried in the mouth, between the gums, due to the absence of pockets in the clothing. They were minted only during the 6th century B.C. as they were so easily lost; as a result, very few have survived. Obverse: round shield; Reverse; incurse punch, Very Fine condition......(GR-278)....$680
